Luck
She smiles, against the sun, but not even the sun resembles her brilliance. She sings, slightly out of tune, but passionately. Her eyes, big, doe, child-like eyes, are always full of wonder, and when she smiles, they crinkle up a bit at the sides, so her eyes smiles with her whole body. But oh, when they're mad!, they become seas in the middle of a storm, intense, imposible to escape from, they truly are a menace, and you can see her soul flaring up in anger just by looking a second into them. Her cheeks are as pink as carnations in the midnoon sun, and bright, flaming gold rivers ease their way down into her shoulders. She laughs, shrill and high, but barely there, and her smile iluminates her whole being. She's small, lightly built, with delicate shoulders and thin legs. She likes to organise her things, and though she's a bit lazy, she always fills in her responsabilites, and even has energy to urge me to complete mine. When she's nervous, or embarassed, her face takes on a light shade of sunset red, and she covers her face inbetween her soft, white hands, peeking out of them with those deer eyes. She's really very shy, and has trouble speaking well with others the first time she meets them. She can look blankly into the wall for dozens of minutes, until she feels my eyes on her and starts laughing at herself. Maybe that's what I really, really like about you, friend of mine. How you can always laugh about yourself. How truly authentic you are. How you always cheer me up when I'm down by trying to make me laugh, or singing to me songs I like, or making me imagine things that make me happy. How you care always about others, even when they don't deserve your attention, energy, brilliance, or forgiveness. Because there are very few things, and few people, who deserve such a person as you, and I never though it would be me, little nymph, me, the girl who is so impulsive, jealous, headstrong and recovering from selfishness. How you share what little food you have with me in school even when you're starving.  How you value other people's hard work and the things that you have (remember the mouse?) and how grateful you are with everything around you. How you're so patient, so kind, so forgiving, so valiant with things other people would cower at. How you're always willing to learn and to be better than the person you were yesterday. How you burn so brightely, with a flame not every one gets to see but once you do, to marvel it is a true pleasure and honor. To be your friend, or even just know you, is a gift life has made me that I'm not sure I really deserve, but I thank every day that I have it, that I get the chance to be the one that can listen to you and comfort such a beautiful person as you. Quite frankly, I'm overcome with thankfulness to be able to see you every morning, with those color-changing eyes that smile warmth and acceptance, to talk to you and feel your stories building up in colors and shapes inside my mind, to be able to hug you when you're full of sorrow and to share your laughs, because there's absolutely nothing better than to see someone you love so much smile, and though I've had people come and go, and seen so many places, there' nothing quite like it, coming into school and seeing your sleepy head there among all the ordinary people, and smiling to myself, happy you're my best friend, and I could never ask nor recieve a better friend than you.
You deserve everything in life my dear. Everything. And never give up until you have it, because people like you, as amazing as you, as admirable as you, are hard to find, and painful to lose, and you'd have to be a fool to loose them. That's why thank you, just thank you. Cheers, to a life ahead of friendship, of travels, of movies, of cheap food and hangovers, of sleepovers and cries and sad moments and fates and new jokes and new reasons to be happy. Cheers, to being the luckiest girl in all Buenos Aires, and all thanks to you.
